Students will conduct user research, create wireframes, build interactive prototypes, and test usability to ensure our apps are intuitive, engaging, and accessible.
👉 Students may contribute to apps such as Cookful (a smart recipe platform), Physio App (injury-aware fitness tool), Rolodex (intelligent contact database), eGift (digital gifting platform), Poste (community bulletin app), FlexyGig (gig matching platform), or WeVibe (team culture and engagement app).
By the end of this project, students will have:
- User Research Findings – summaries of user needs, pain points, and preferences gathered through surveys, interviews, or usability testing.
- Wireframes & Mockups – low- and high-fidelity designs outlining the structure, layout, and flow of selected app features.
- Interactive Prototypes – clickable prototypes (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, or similar tools) that bring the designs to life for testing and iteration.
- Usability Testing Reports – documentation of test sessions, feedback received, and proposed improvements.
- Design System Elements – a starter kit of reusable UI components (icons, buttons, color palette, typography) to ensure consistency across Innovation Lab apps.
Expected Outcome:
Students will deliver user-centered, visually appealing, and functional design prototypes that can be directly used by developers to guide future app builds. These deliverables will not only enhance the usability of Appy.yo’s apps but also give students tangible portfolio pieces.
Direct involvement in project tasks, offering guidance, and demonstrating techniques.
Providing access to necessary tools, software, and resources required for project completion.
Scheduled check-ins to discuss progress, address challenges, and provide feedback.
